Throughout my life, I have encountered many a spirit guide, but I never met a guide who could walk me through the steps of truly working with their guidance—both for mundane and spiritual aspects of life. That is, not until I met Sabir. I guess, when the student is ready, the teacher appears.
From the very first moment of connection, he started showing me things and prompting me to sit down and type, which is exactly what’s happening here. This unfolded within minutes of doing a guided meditation to meet a guide for this phase of my life (I’m entering my crone phase).
A Different Kind of Meditation
During the meditation, I kept sipping my coffee. I had done so many of these before that I didn’t feel the need to close my eyes at the start. Yet, as soon as the grounding cords extended through my feet into the core of Gaia, I slipped into a slightly altered state—and sipping my coffee didn’t break it.
I wasn’t entirely sure I could enter a deep enough meditative state to encounter a guide, but I heard a voice reassure me: Keep your eyes open without focusing on anything in particular.
So I gazed in the direction of my altar, which is slightly to the right of where I sit for my morning meditations. When I tried closing my eyes, doubt crept in immediately. Again, the voice gently urged me: Open your eyes.
I asked its name and heard, Sabir. I asked again for confirmation, and he affirmed it. Then, he gave me three signs—each of which I was able to verify before sitting down to share this.
Practical Guidance from Sabir
One of the biggest misconceptions about spirit guides is that we must connect with them in a high-vibrational, almost ritualistic setting—something we may feel incapable of recreating in our daily lives. This is especially true if our first encounter happened at a retreat or workshop.
But the truth? You can chat with your spirit guide anywhere, at any time.
If you allow the dialogue to flow, you can receive guidance on anything, in any environment. Messages can come through visual signs, numbers, songs playing at just the right moment—any medium that your guide chooses to use.
Here’s an example of my first real conversation with Sabir:
Me: “Wow, Sabir. That sounds Arabic. I wasn’t expecting that.”
Sabir: “Ha, yeah. I know you’re going to look it up, but do the numbers first.”
I added up the numerology of his name and got 22.
Me: “Ah, I see why you’ve come to guide me now. You’re here to help me with my legacy. Wow, now I really can’t wait to look up the meaning of your name.”
Sabir: “Cool. Also, look up one of the signs I gave you.”
So I Googled Sabir images and, on the first page, saw an image of the name with a falcon behind it—one of the exact signs he had given me.

The Ego’s Resistance and Allowing Flow
The ego loves to pull us back into the ‘ordinary’ world where it reigns supreme. But this morning, I chose not to let it. Instead of analysing or second-guessing, I sat down and allowed spirit communication to flow through my keyboard.
This is different from doing a meditation and then trying to use my intellect to figure out what just happened—which is my ego’s usual go-to move.
I’ve always known that when I touch-type, I enter a light trance. It’s part of my skill set; I’ve channeled messages for others this way before, especially in readings. But I had never done it for one of my spirit guides.
Patient and Enduring
The name Sabir means ‘patient’ and ‘enduring’—which is almost comedic because patience is not my strong suit. Those who know me best love to tease me about it.
Too often, my doubts and cynicism have led me to quit at the first sign of struggle. Apathy takes hold, and my ego starts looping “What’s the point?”
Sabir interrupted this thought process:
“The point isn’t for your spirit guide to hand you your future on a plate. How would you learn anything if we did that? We offer moment-to-moment guidance, but most things, you have to figure out for yourself. When you get stuck and call for help, we always answer—you just have to learn to listen.”
Staying Grounded in Spirit Communication
I asked Sabir how I could stay grounded while maintaining an open connection with him and other guides.
His answer was simple:
“Use the palms of your hands. Put them together when you call on a guide, and again when you wish to close the connection and focus on other matters. Some call this ‘prayer position,’ but we don’t see it as bowing down or pleading for assistance. We see it as a form of respectful communication, aligning with your purpose. This small gesture shifts your energy field instantly.”
Merging with Your Spirit Guide
Sabir also explained that we can merge our energy with a guide. This is actually quite natural, though some find the idea unsettling.
When this happens, we don’t necessarily realise we’re acting on our guide’s influence—we just find ourselves making choices based on wisdom beyond our usual subconscious programming. It’s not possession; it’s simply alignment.
“Think of long-term romantic partners who finish each other’s sentences or ‘hear’ the other person’s thoughts. That’s a form of energetic merging, and it’s similar to how you can work with a spirit guide consciously.”
Then he added something intriguing:
“It’s no different from people ‘inviting Jesus into their heart,’ as Evangelical Christians say. The problem is, many still choose to listen to the voice of the ego rather than the voice of their ‘Lord and Saviour.’ It’s a shame—Yeshua is a wonderful guide for anyone truly willing to embody his teachings.”
That last part struck me. Until now, I hadn’t realised how much I feared being perceived as a ‘weirdo’ for openly communicating with my guides. As a Christian, I was taught that though Jesus was ‘in my heart,’ I had to rely solely on Scripture for any guidance. While I thought I had gotten over the programming a long time ago, there was still a vestige of it left.
That’s something I can let go of now. So, thank you, Sabir.
“You’re welcome.”
Final Thoughts
This experience with Sabir has already shifted my perspective on spirit guide communication. It’s not about elaborate rituals or waiting for the perfect conditions. It’s about allowing, listening, and trusting the flow—wherever and whenever it happens.
And if you’re reading this feeling a tug in your heart, it might just be a sign that you’re ready for this level of connection too.
